We've all basically survived the ice storm. They still haven't plowed our street (...because there's only one plow, duh), but the rest of the major roads are clear. Not much news to report on the baby front. Emmy's starting to get lots of aches and pains from carrying around Mr. Aidan but she's hanging in there and keeping well hydrated, so hopefully her fluid levels will still be good at our Wednesday check-up.
Our Infant Care class on Saturday was good. Didn't learn many new things, however it was nice to see demonstrations and pictures of various infant stuff (umbilical stumps, cradle cap, Stork bites, etc.) Also, they showed parts of the Happiest Baby on the Block DVD on how to calm your baby down quickly. Now, I know in the video they could edit things in and out, so who knows if it really works well...so I'd love to hear from all our blog readers if you've tried this technique (Swaddling, Swinging, Shushing, Side Lying, and Sucking). Just post back to the blog (Using the Anonymous Option so you don't have to register, Thanks!). I've placed it on reserve at the library, so we'll have to watch it once it comes in.
In any case, here's what's happening this week with Aidan.

Glad to hear that you had a great "educational" Saturday...baby Aidan is going to be the best baby "on the block"! You won't have to worry about the technique but it is a "nice to know" piece of info...

Swaddling really helped with getting the baby to sleep. It is just hard when they are tiny and squirmy. Shushing also helps while rocking.
I am glad you are all doing well!! We didn't get ANY snow in Indy just a lot of wind and now it is FREEZING!
I tried doing the happiest baby on the block stuff, but some of it just didn't work for Keiran. He HATED being swaddled from the moment he entered the world. Sushing still works sometimes and he is almost two! The Gymboree he goes to offers a class that breaks the whole thing down, if you are interested in doing that check into it.
FYI I had seen a thing on Oprah about learning what your newborn is saying. I can't remember the woman's name, but it was very neat. It basically helps you figure out what each cry or sound your baby makes means. I think you can find it on Oprah.com
