The Queen City Smiles Upon the Frost Family!

I don't know any other way to put our fabulous trip back to Cincinnati, other than, we were really smiled upon...great memories, great food, great weather, great friends, a great toddler and a great celebration of our five years together!

There were two things from our wedding that we wanted to relive. For me, I could not for the life of me remember the cake. I remember having a piece but didn't remember the taste. Well, because we lived in St. Louis we never had the "1 year cake topper" cake (the place we got the original cake makes one fresh for you one year later). So I called and had them make the "5 year cake topper" cake for us. It was fantastic! And Aidan loved it too, see a funny below!

I was also able to get in contact with our original florist to help with the thing that Emmy wanted to remember from our wedding...her bouquet! She absolutely loved her original bouquet so we were able to get a replica made, gorgeous!

We had an awesome time back in C-town..my how fun it is to see how things have changed...and stayed the same. For us, going back was kind of a homecoming of sorts. After living in Cincy during college for four or so years, and the memories of being there, really makes it our "home" city so to speak. So, with that, our great trip was to sample the old times as much as we could in the three days that we were there.

First, we headed to one of Emmy's favorite places to go, the Cincinnati Children's Museum. Emmy babysat through college to make some extra dough, and always took her kids here. Now that we have one of our own, it became doubly special. And gosh, what a great museum...light years better than the Magic House here in St. Louis. And the conditions couldn't have been any better; Aidan ate a great lunch, took a good nap on the trip over and there were hardly any kids there! Next it we met up with Kevin and Jenni and Ashley and Ben and our friend Brad for dinner! It was at this great chicken place and we got to sit in an open air part of the restaurant. Afterwards we heading back to the Meyers and Aidan and Ashley got some book time in together.

The next morning we headed to the University of Cincinnati campus to see our old school...and man has it changed. Much of our career there was a school full of construction, in fact they used to say that UC was the acronym for "Under Construction" University. Well, the construction is almost done and campus is weird with some really progressive archetecture buildings.

This is the new Student Affairs Center and this is a picture looking up through the roof of the old Student Union. They kept the bell tower, but tore off the rest of the roof and replaced it with glass "skylight" type panels.

This is a shot of the football field, behind it used to be a landmark for the university, a huge power plant with a 100+ foot tall brick smokestack. It has now been replaced by some freaky looking building thing.

Led by myself and Aaron Bricker (of the Bricker Family fame), we ended up 10th out of 40 competitors in a national radio controlled airplane competition, after, crashing twice! Definitely a highlight of my college career and really great to see that the university is using it to promote Aerospace Engineering 7 years after it happened! How about that Aaron? Pretty awesome, huh buddy.

After campus we headed up to Uncle Brad's condo to watch Ohio State beat Troy. It was a perfect relaxing afternoon just to veg out and enjoy our anniversary. Aidan was well behaved (except for the coloring of carpet), but really was a star child!!

Finally, we celebrated by going to the very famous Montgomery Inn for dinner. The Inn is famous for their ribs, which all of us had!

Sunday we got up and headed to mass at the campus church that we got married in, St. Monica-St. George Parish. We were lucky enough to catch the mass in which the priest was Father Tom, who married us 5 years ago. After mass we had a very nice conversation with him and he wished that we had talked to him before because he would have introduced us to all the churchgoers during mass! Whew dodged a bullet on that one!

Our whirlwind tour of the Queen City wasn't over yet. We ate lunch with two of Emmy's nursing classmates, Nick and Karin and caught up on old times. It's amazing how strong friendships can always be brought back to old times in just a few minutes! It was great seeing those two.

Finally our last attraction of the weekend was to go down to the Kentucky side of the Ohio River and go to the Newport Aquaruium. This aquarium was opened fairly recently and is supposed to be one of the best in the US. I thought it was alright and Aid loved seeing the "j00sh" swim around. Here are a few shots:

Here we are just outside, they take an old barge boat called the USS Nightmare and turn it into a fright house during Halloween season. Emmy said she almost we her pants when in there! And us with the big city in the background.

Finally on our way out of town we stopped and met another of Emmy's friends, Nancy and Jeff for ice cream. 5 and a half hours later, we arrived home. Tired but very grateful for such a wonderful anniversary trip!
