Boys Day Out!

Two posts!! Two posts in one day! Whoa...Daddy must be bored! Nope, just enjoying my week off with my boy!

Today, we had one heck of a good time with each other. Daddy and Aidan headed to the Museum of Transportation in West St. Louis. It was a beautiful day here so the outdoors wasn't too bad. I can't believe that we have lived here for five years AND never hear any advertisements about this place....but I'll tell you....it is an AWESOME PLACE!

I've loved trains since I was a really little boy and Aidan is getting in that mode too! This place is amazing for full scale trains....it's touted as one of the best collections of steam and diesel engines and cars in the world...and who knew, it was right here in town! Enough with the props, let's see some trains!

Here are a couple of locomotives...they are in excellent condition, looks as if you could just jump in, fire them up and drive off. Beautiful!

-
The museum has many "unique" trains, the tank car on the left is the world's longest at 96 feet!

-
The enormity of these locomotives is astounding. Look at how small Aidan looks next to the "Big Boy" engine on the left and another steam engine on the right! Wow...the effort to build these must have been remarkable!

-
Speaking of the "Big Boy", there were 25 made and they are considered the largest steam locomotives ever built. With an arraingement of 4-8-8-4, they have 4 stearing wheels, 16 drive wheels and 4 support wheels which makes the total length of the train almost 140 feet! Wow...you can read more about the Union Pacific "Big Boy" engines here. And Aidan's driving it! And look on the right picture just how many adjustment wheels there were to drive that thing....absolutely amazing! Just stunning!
-
-
Lastly, watch out Aidan don't get sucked into the world's largest rotary snowplowing car!! And the conductor steps off the caboose after a long journey!
-
After seeing the trains we stopped by Mommy's work and had Chick-fil-A, yum! Then it was off to Aid's nap time. He napped well and then we busted out the wagon, trike and Cozy Coupe for some outside action!
-
-
Wagoneering and trike-ing!
-
-
And a cruisin' in the coupe!
-
Have a great night everyone!
Ty and Aidan!

That looks like fun! A whole museum of "steamies" and "diesels". The Bricker Boys would LOVE that place!

Looks like a great day off... the weather looks nice! Too bad it is sooo windy here.

Happy New Year Frost Family :)
