Folks, (generally) family folks,
We are set to lose our internet and phone for 6 days (returning Feb 5th) because we switched to Vonage from AT&T and AT&T is going to take 6 days to convert our service from DSL with phone to DSL without phone. (With Vonage you need an internet connection) Why it takes 6 days, and why they couldn't leave our internet on and just drop the phone is between AT&T and their god (who for obvious reasons should be replaced).
When we're back up, our home phone number will be the exact same however, it will cost us $18 dollars a month instead of $45 dollars a month. So, with Ethan coming down the pike, you can see why Daddy made the financial change.
So, for the next few days, call us on our cell phones if you have the number, if you don't then call someone who has them :)
We may be able to break into someone else's wireless internet if they have it unsecured (note: ALWAYS secure your wireless internet).

Oh, I am so sad that there will be nothing to look forward to this week-end! You know, if you had called ATT and asked to talk to their retention department, they would have matched the service to avoid losing you....Oh, good job Daddy at trying to save money :-)

Ma, they are not into retaining anyone. After I told them that 6 days was unacceptable to have them hook up the line and said that I could have their competitor here tomorrow to start a new service, the girl said,"OK". So, they are not in the business of keeping business.
But by some twist of fate, we still have internet this morning, so maybe there's a glitch, or maybe we're paying some ridiculous price per megabyte that they charge for non-hooked up customers. Who knows.
