...the transition of two children!
Well this weekend we have started taking the steps of having two little ones in the house! Aidan was officially moved to his BIG BOY bed on Thursday night, and, for the most part has adjusted to it well. He's a little difficult to get down, one extra visit from Mommy usually does the trick. And he's slept through the night and not tried to get out of the bed either! We actually haven't shown him how to get up into the bed, and he's never seen the rails down, so for all intents and purposes, he still "thinks" it's like a crib. We'll see what happens when he "explores" the bottom end!!
We got him all new stuff from Target; headboard, dresser, bookshelf, and night stand. It's kinda cheapie stuff, but for a toddler who'll probably color/scratch/etc. all over it, it's probably best we didn't get him top of the line Pottery Barn Kids-level stuff. I found a Mattress Outlet place (they only accept customers by appointment and it's in a warehouse clear out in the middle of the countryside north of here), that cut us a good deal on an OK mattress and box spring ($75 bucks!), Emmy will say that it is one step above sleeping on the floor quality mattress. But as I saw it, this is the "pee" mattress, so why would we get something crazy nice. I put a good mattress pad and also an old down bed topper we had, so actually it's pretty comfy! One area we did splurge on (it cost more than the bed!), was the duvet. It's hard trying to find little boys bedding that isn't marred with Transformers/Cars/Thomas the Train/Pokemon/etc. And Aunt Dawna had gotten us a great quilt, however it was a full, and for space reasons we wanted to keep Aid in a twin...maybe in the next house we can get him some more space! Anyways, Mommy found a great site called Land of Nod, which is Crate and Barrel's kids store, and we found his comforter. I really like it and it goes awesome with his "Stars" sheets from Target, too! -
Well, enough talk about it...let's see Aidan's new BIG BOY room!
I still think it is so great how much he likes books. His Raspberry teacher, Beth, told Emmy the other day that occaisionally things get a little crazy in the room (duh, 8 2-year olds will do that!). Aidan, who has never been a fan of crazy, has on many occaisions grabbed a book and headed over to the bean bag area and quietly read, while the rest of the room is in chaos! How awesome is that?!
Here he is reading with Mommy and by himself in the Big Boy Bed!

Awe, so cute! He will continue to sleep "like a tornado" for many years! You all did! I love the furniture and the comforter...great job!
I love that Aidan loves books too...Ethan will also! You all did. Reading to our children is just the best thing to do. A very special time for Dads, Moms and children.
Have a great week! Can't wait to Skype soon...
Love,
Mom
We call it sleeping with a helicopter :)
Aidan looks good in his big boy bed... What a BIG BOY!!! It happens so fast, doesn't it?!?!
Just a word of warning.... Keiran use to have his bed up against a wall with a window. Last summer he figured out how to open the windows and hang out to talk to the neighbor kids. He even figured out the safty latch!!! That boy... needless to say his bed is in the middle of the room now.
He is growing up so fast. The room looks adorable. Great job mommy and daddy. Wonderful step up for the "big brother".
Love and miss you!
