Mommy, Daddy, Aidan, Ethan and Auntie Elizabeth set out on an adventure to Grafton Illinois and Eckert's Farm, to pick apples and a pumpkin! Now, Grafton isn't just an easy car ride away from our home (you can get there by car but you have to go out and around because of the Mississippi River)....so how oh how do you get there?!
Well, you take a ferry boat....that you drive your car on! I had never been on a car ferry before, but it actually was really cool. We drove for about a half hour up to the landing point and waited a little while for the ferry and then drove on!
Surprisingly, after we got on the ferry, the car right next to us had Aidan's friend from school and his mom (who is a part-time teacher at his school), Sam and Eliza! They too were going to pick apples and pumpkins!
It was only about a 10 minute trip to the other shore, so before you knew it...it was time to get off!
Eckert's Farm is a pretty cool place this time of year. They had lots of pumpkins, music, rides and food for everyone to enjoy. We took a ride on a John Deere tractor with a trailer (which Aidan loved!) out to the orchards. They were picking Jonathon, and Red and Golden Delicious and had lots and lots of pumpkins available too!
We filled up our back with apples (19 and three quarter pounds to be exact) and found THE perfect pumpkin out in the field. Seriously, the skin was perfectly smooth and the pumpkin was darn near symmetric and the perfect Aidan-size, about 4 lbs.
Even though the weather as a little chilly we still managed to make this our new Fall tradition!
Enjoy the pics!
Aidan and Daddy on the "John W. Cannon", the ferry that took us to Illinois.
Aidan and his buddy Sam from school.
And pulling and pulling!!
Perfect!

Pole Position for the ride back to Missouri! And the crew staying warm in the Pilot.
Headin' to Missouri and check out that tugboat, it's attached at the middle and swings around so that it always faces the direction of which we were going...cool stuff!
And the post would not be complete without the final goods! Check out some of those golden's...they are huge!
Have a great night everyone,
Ty, Emmy, Aidan and Ethan!

Fun Fun Fun!! Smiling Aidan tells the story of how fun it was. Next year Ethan can run around the apple trees with his brother. Good pictures of all of you. Auntie E looks great with her boys.
Hugs and kisses

Such fun! I am so sad that I wasn't there to partake in all of the "Fall Festivities"!!! They are both so cute! Can't wait for the end of the month and Dan's Wedding.
Have a great week!
Love,
Mom
