Aidan: Mommy, you have brown eyes like me. Why does Ethan have blue eyes?
Mommy: Because God makes each of us different.
Aidan: Who is God again?
Mommy: Jesus' daddy. (We say prayers to Jesus each night and talk about him a lot at Church, so he is pretty good with the Jesus concept).
Aidan: Who was Jesus' mommy?
Mommy: Mary
Aidan: Oh. Where do they live?
Mommy: Heaven.
Aidan: Heaven. Is that a city, state, or country?

Aidan: Mommy, I really like you.
Mommy: I like you too Aidan.
Aidan: When you are in Boston, I'm going to call you just to tell you that I like you.
Mommy: Ok, Aid. I will like that.

Aidan: Mommy, you are my best friend.
Mommy: Thanks buddy, you are one of my best friends too.
Aidan: Daddy is your best friend too. And so is Ethan.
Mommy: Yep.
Aidan: But I'm going to marry you mommy.
Mommy: But I'm alreay married to daddy.
Aidan: That's ok Mommy.

After Mommy got some new jewlery, she was trying it on. Aidan, being the polite little boy that he is, immediately took notice.
Aidan: Wow, Mommy, you look like a lady! (Apparently Mommy spends most of her time looking like a man?)
Mommy: Thanks buddy.

At Dinner, after a relatively difficult night around the house:
Aidan: "Daddy, You are NOT the boss!"
Aidan: "Mommy, You are NOT the boss!"
Daddy: "Well, Aidan who is the boss?"
Aidan: "Ethan!"

Some other "Aidanisms": Most of these words have now found their real pronounciation, but boy were they fun when they were here:
Excavator - "Exa-later"
Bulldozer - "Bull-zohzer"
Helicopter - "Heli-hopter"
Garbage Truck - "Barbage truck"
Monkey - "Num-mon"
Barack Obama - "A-rock O-mama"
Thank You - "Tank yup"
And still my most favorite thing that he has ever pointed out, and he did this long ago, when he sees a pizza delivery guy drive by, he yells, "PIZZA TAXI"!!
Yeah...I love that. What an unbelievable character.
So now on we go with the rest of tonight's post.
Today was an important and sad day for Emmy as we succesfully weened Ethan off breastfeeding. A few tears here, but you know, Emmy has done a wonderful job with these boys regarding breastfeeding. I can remember back when Aid was less than two weeks old calling the Lactation consultant at St. Luke's pleading for her to call Emmy and talk through the difficulties that she was having with Aidan...And Pam did great for her, gave her the confidence and guidance to keep going. And going she did, 12 months with Aidan and around 13.5 months with Ethan. The benefits of this are really not measureable, there of course are studies here and there about IQ increases, disease prevention, and obesity prevention, but really who knows? It's the way God designed us to operate and although a massive sacrifice of time and incovienience of doing it and pumping and such, Emmy stuck with it the whole time. I think that she is tremendously proud of acheiving the goal of feeding for 12 months. I know that I am certainly estatic that she was able to do it. Futher still, Ethan never had one drop of formula...Aidan had what he had in the NICU and one or two bottles at our house but that's it! Amazing!
So here's to Emmy, the feeder extrordinaire, and most selfless and goal-oriented person I know! Thank you for nourishing my boys, keeping them close to you and being so committed to them and their future lives!!! I love you!
August started out slow today with just a few errands. Yesterday we too just did some things around and about to support the house. I did grab a few shots of Ethan on his Toy Story 3 ATV, which he's just about ready to drive (he gets his finger on the accleration button, but hasn't pressed it yet). Also, he stood by himself today for about 3 seconds...we were in shock as that is about 3x longer than we'd ever seen.

Talk about seeing a job through to the end!!, Great accomplishment, as I can remember you leaving with Ethan during the Cardinals game and that seems like a long time ago.
Gotta see those boys soon, they're changing so fast!

Wow, precious...such milestones with these boys! I know first hand the sacrifices that you made Em in choosing to feed the boys "mammas milk"! It is exemplary and I applaud you! I also applaud the Daddy that got up and picked up these little guys to bring them to you to feed!!! Most Daddies would have slept through the feedings!!! This is just one of many signs that you both are wonderful parents and should not stop with two babies (wink, wink)!!!
That Aidan is just adorable! I love seeing the "many faces of Aid"! He is so you Tyler! But those blue eyes of Ethan's have Grammy mesmerized!!! I always secrectly wanted a "blue-eyed boy"!!! Thanks Peggy for the genes that helped that happen! His eyes are soooo you!
