Last weekend we had a special guest in town, Aunt Natalie!!
And wow did we have a fun time!!
Aunt Natalie came in early Saturday and we headed to the Schlafly Brewing Company (after being here 9 years we'd never been there!?!?) and had lunch, a tour and a tasting of their beers! Pretty darn good!
After naps, it was presents time!!

Christmas time for Aunt Nat and it's the best gift ever....a thrityone OSU embroidered cooler for tailgating....with....wait for it.....wait for it.....complete with a chilled 6 pack of Coors Light! Whooo!!

Sunday we got up bright and early to get moving on a new hobby of ours, hiking!
So back to Castlewood, our go to place, for some hiking and viewing of the leaves.
Aunt Natalie and Aidan led the way up the steep steep hill to the top of the river bluff!
Mooks did good too, but needed a lift from Mommy on the way up.

After a quick stop by the house to pick up our picnic items, it was off to Balducci Winery. Balducci's is our new favorite after Mount Un-Pleasant stopped allowing outside food. So, the weather was awesome, 75F, the sun was out and we were there to listen to some music and have fun with the boys!

On Monday, Aunt Natalie and Ethan got to hang out ALL DAY LONG and when I came home for lunch, here's what I found...
Mohawk Mookie! Well, he told Aunt Natalie that he wanted a Mohawk and sure enough, Aunt Natalie and her skills got that thing to stand straight up! She did a great job with him and even built this Halloween house with him!

So, Aunt Natalie's stay was very nice. I'm so glad she could come over and see her nephews in action. They were quite good all weekend....great time! Thanks for everything Nat!
Now onto more from last week. First, Aidan's first report card came in from St. Joe and he did fantastic! Guess who gets a big, fat "F"....His teacher.....Hey Mrs. Dickey....spell the kid's name right, please.
We had parent teacher conferences on Thursday to discuss this with Mrs. Dickey and she was more than complementary at what a good kid Aidan was, how well he's reading (he's one of 3 for all 4 kindergartens (over 90 kids) that is in the top reading break-out group!) and in general how good he's doing in school....makes us very proud. He's quite the studious one!
Then we also got this gem of a drawing....likely his first real plane drawing (PS: this was one of Daddy's favorite past times to do when I was school age)...
Very nice! Definitely a 747, signed by Aidan "4" which is the number of cubby he is at school and they make them write the number every time they put their name on something...
Well, we did get some very sad news this week (last weekend) of two people that had great influence on our lives. First, on of my best friends from school, Jim, had his Dad pass away after a long battle with cancer. If you remember back in August of 2010, I flew to Clovis, New Mexico to help Jim move back to Ohio to be near his Dad as he transitioned in the USAF. Very sad, but glad that Jerry is now at peace. He was my basketball coach for many years at St. Mike's in Findlay and I remember him very vividly from my time being at Jim's house with my buddies Dan, Tony and others. He was a great man, great Dad to his kids and a great parent...I last saw Mr. Kreinbrink and Dan's wedding in October of 2010 and spoke with him and Mrs. K. He looked good then, but alas he suffers no more now.
Also, we got word on Sunday that Dr. Joe Rudawski, grandparent to Auntie Elizabeth, aka to our boys, "Grandpa Joe", passed away in his sleep Saturday night. So sad, he was such a wonderful man to us and our boys. Everytime we'd go to Elizabeth's house he'd always be there, with a smile, welcoming us and holding on to Frosty (Elizabeth's dog) so he wouldn't scare Ethan. It's amazing because at 86, he was as sharp as a tack. He and I had many conversations about the Cardinals, my job, and the weather...Emmy and I each attended the wake and the funeral and I can tell you he was a very loved person. We will miss him dearly during our visits to Auntie E's. We are truly better people for having him be in our lives....and are quite sad that it happened so fast. He will be missed.
That's all for today, sorry again for the delay....big fun coming up this coming week, Aidan has fall break and we've got fun plans with another visitor, Grandpa John!

My goodness! What a post :) So glad that Aunt Natalie had a great time with her nephews! ...Thanks for making her birthday extra special! That mohawk was too cute! Looks like you had an action packed week-end. Love the space suits...can't wait to see the "trick or treat" pics! Was sad to hear of the passing of two special men! They both touched your life and left many pleasant memories. How blessed you were to know them. Have lots fun with Grandpa John next week! Love you all! Mom
