Week 28 - Greetings From...

So here we are!! The final frontier is upon us as this week we enter the third trimester!

Emmy is doing quite well and Baby Aidan is growing like a weed. Here's a two part picture of "the Most Beautiful Mama-to-be in the World" at the end of the 1st Trimester and the end of the 2nd Trimester:

Yep, I'd say Baby Aidan's doing just fine and growing well!

We had a beautiful weekend here in St. Louis. The apple pickin' was a lot of fun, although many of the trees had already been picked. We got about 12 pounds of Gala, Jonagold, Golden Delicious, and Winesap apples. There's no fresher than pickin' right off the tree!

Except when the one she wants is waaaaaay up there!!

Baby Aidan Just Loving Life

So I had a great thing happen today....I finally felt Baby Aidan kick! It was so soft; I could only really only make it out 'cause Emmy said it was a kick. She's felt much stronger ones such that her hand moved while she was pressing on him. Pretty awesome, finally a way that I can "feel" like this Little Man is actually real.

We had another great visit to the Doc's today, with Emmy and Baby A coming out with a clean bill of health all around. Emmy's doing great, Aidan's heartbeat is right on at 162 bpm and we're all getting pretty excited for his late December/early January arrival. We also found out that we'll only have one more ultrasound, which, is kinda sad since we've seen him four times so far via ultrasound, but it's good because it means that he's doing great inside just growing and growing.

Courtesy of T.R., a friend of mine from college, I've added a site tracker, which allows everyone to see where visitors to our site are located. If you click on the link on the left hand side you'll see where people "hitting" our site are located. Pretty neat. It updates once per day. I've also added a site counter.

Emmy and I are planning to go apple pickin' this weekend at an orchard nearby, other than that finally a weekend to relax! :)

Week 27 - 1,310 miles later...

Whew! And we're back...

The whirlwind tour of the Midwest is complete! It was a successful trip to Findlay, New Riegel, Cleveland, and Indianapolis! Ribs have been devoured, new friends made, good friends married, and old friends housewarmed. A great trip, indeed a great trip.

I have to give thanks to Jen for being such a great host in Cleveland and to Aaron for helping her get/keep things in order. You guys are the best. Also, have to thank Aaron and Nicole for letting us share a few minutes of their busy life with little Kieran in their new home in Indy. We loved your new home and hope that it will bring you years of joy, happiness and comfort!

Thanks to Mom, Grandma Nancy and Dad and Liz for your gifts for Aidan. I put my ear up to Em's belly and he said thanks and that he'll try them on in a few months!

I have to give a very special thank you to the love of my life for putting up with over 18 hours of driving in a three day span. And she did this gracefully and without complaint. Thank you dear, this trip was very important to me and really appreciate you sticking it through. I love you and that little guy inside so much.

Finally, I've decided to switch the normal "here's what's up with the baby" site to one run by Pampers. Their site is much more interesting. So without further ado, here's what's up with baby Aidan this week.

We have another appt. with Dr. Thompson this week to hear how the A-man is doing!

The Finishing Touches and some Very Good News

Emmy's routine blood tests came in today and show no signs of gestational diabetes. This is extremely good news as she had been told by a previous doctor that she would possibly develop this if she got pregnant. Her score was 103, which is well below the border line of 140 and still below the "good" line of 110. It is a very good day for Baby Aidan, now that Mommy can concentrate on eating well without having to be cautious of what she eats.

I finished up the final touches on the Nursery today and am so happy how it turned out. We found some stars and airplanes unfinished at Michael's so I painted those up and also drew and cut out with my jig saw the airplanes next to Aidan's name. I am convinced now with Emmy's, Natalie's and my work, Aidan has the best room in the house!!





Off to Findlay and Cleveland this weekend for our "final" trip of this year! We start up the third trimester in two weeks and that pretty much means no unnecessary traveling. So y'all come over to Mizzur-ah and see us if ya want!

Week 26 - A Room for the Little Man!

As promised, here are the pictures of Mr. Aidan's nursery. Me, the Mom & baby and Aunt Natalie painted, built furniture and hung pictures this weekend to make Baby A's room the best it could possibly be. We still have a little more work to do on the room, some painted stars and planes that go here and there, but for the most part, minus the glider/rocker and of course the baby :) , the room is "cleared for take-off!"

Here's what's happening with Baby Aidan this week. We've got yet another busy week, the last of our four Cardinals tickets on Wednesday and then a cross-country drive back to Ohio for our friend's Kevin and Nora's Wedding in Cleveland. Until then, everyone have a great week and we love you!

A Happy 3rd Anniversary!

It seems just like yesterday that my beautiful bride was walking down the aisle on that perfect early fall day in Cincinnati. And what a day it was, so much fun, excitement and joy. I love you today even more than I did then; you make everything in the world good, even when school, work, and life in general has got me down. I can't believe that Baby Aidan will be here in just a few months and our twosome will become three. You will make a great mom, and us, wonderful parents together, forged by the love we pledged on this day, three years ago.

Week 25 - The Big Clean Out!

Whew....after a long hard day, we've put a dent in cleaning out the house for the coming of Mr. A. Yeah, I know it's early, but we decided to do a deep clean of the house well in advance of the baby's arrival. The basement is finished and today we've moved on to the kitchen. Today's daunting tasks were wiping out all the cabinets, trim boards, appliances, pitching items we don't need or are broke or never used. We even set up "Bottleland", armed and ready for action:

Other than that, we've purchased the paint (Haze and Whispering Wind are the color names (a tan and sage green)) and supplies for decorating Aidan's room this coming weekend. We will have another distinguished guest to help out; none other than Aunt Natalie will be coming all the way from Bowling Green, Ohio to paint and enjoy making Aidan's room simply awesome.

Here's what's happening this week with Baby A as he kicks and punches his way to a late December Delivery. Interesting this week as his hair should be well defined by now. What color will it be? Emmy and I both had blond hair as young kids, but eventually ended up brunettes. Who knew?

Week 24 - A Culinary Masterpiece!

We had some great visitors to St. Louis this week and ended the weekend with Emmy's "Culinary Masterpiece". My mom had bought us a kit back in May on how to make what you see below. It's really quite easy and the results are spectacular. Emmy's great work is for her co-worker's birthday party tomorrow.

Other than that, we have started working on the nursery. I put up the chair rail and finished my cutsy airplane paintings, for his airplane-themed room (of course, what else would it be right?).

Emmy is feeling really well, we went out today and got her an elegant and flattering outfit that she'll wear to our friends Kevin and Nora's Wedding in Cleveland at the end of the month.

Our little announcement (that we had to push back a few days), is that Emmy has gotten a new job!! She will still be working at St. John's Mercy Medical Center in the Clinical Informatics Department, however she now will be the Medication Event Report Analyst. This position will gives her autonmous outreach over St. John's and interface ability with the corporate office as well as the other hospitals in the Mercy Medical System. She will be responsible for compiling, investigating and resolving medication errors given by the 3,000+ nurses at her hospital. It is a great position that will help her broaden her knowledge of the quality and compliance side of the business, while helping her network with nursing managers and administrators both inside and outside the hospital. Congratulations, Emmy!!!

A Visit from a Good Friend

So I got a call Friday Night from none other than Mr. Tom Sommer; Dad of one of my best friend's as a kid growing up, Aaron. He was in town for a pre-planning meeting for the Grazing Land Conservation Initiative. They are having their 3rd National Conference on Grazing Lands here in St. Louis in December. Check it on out if you have any cattle you want to let loose!

We went down to Laclede's Landing and had a nice dinner at the Morgan Street Brewery. It was really, really nice seeing him and talking about times past. For those who know me well, I spent a ton of time at Aaron's house as a high schooler and Tom's influence and humor has had a lasting and positive effect on who I am today. Good seeing you 'ol friend.

Baby Aidan Doin' Just Fine and a Special Visitor!

We had another checkup for Baby Aidan today and he's doing just fine. We did not have an ultrasound, but we did hear the heartbeat again and it was swishing around at 168 bpm. Emmy's belly measured in exactly what she should be for 23 weeks and Dr. Thompson gave us some insight on how Baby Aidan has some slow days (i.e. no kicking, punching, movement) and has some active days and how that is completely normal. He offered some tricks to get the baby moving, such as eating a large snack supplemented with a little caffeine, that he says, will pep up the baby and let you know that he's OK!

Yep, that's Dan the Man from Cleveland, on a last minute travel trip to St. Louis!! We had a nice dinner at Houlihan's at Union Station and reminisced about the old times. Good seeing you buddy!

Week 23 - A Wonderful Baby Shower!

I cannot thank enough all the people who gave their time and effort on making Emmy's Baby Shower such a fantastic, fun event. This includes all those who prepared and decorated the shower, and all those who traveled close and far to attend. Just a wonderful time and I'm so glad we have such great family members and friends who care so much about Baby Aidan.

It just makes you so thankful for what you have and those who love you.

Finally! The Cardinals Win!

After watching the Cardinals lose the last 3 games that we've been to (going all the way back to the 4th of July last year), we finally saw a win tonight! 13-6.

Albert Pujols blasted a home run and Scott Rolen added two doubles. We were in the outfield bleacher seats, which by the way, are really good, cheap seats. Here's some pics:

Week 22 - A New Guest Room!

Alright!

Here and there over the last three weeks, we've been working on the basement to make a new guest room (since the old guest room is now Baby Aidan's room). We just wanted to make a space that would be comfortable and enjoyable for our distinguished guests.

Week 21 - Halfway Home

Hurray! The halfway point has passed!!

Little Aidan has been kicking a bunch this week, so says Emmy. He gets really excited when we play him classical music with the bebe sounds speaker system that I got for her. Which is pretty cool. We've started construction on the "Grandma's Suite" in the basement for those two important visitors when they come (and important Aunt when she comes...) It's going to look really awesome...you guys will not believe it. No pictures until we're finished though!!

Nothing else happening this week, just looking forward to the Baby Shower in Nashville over Labor Day.

Other Aidan Frosts?!....

So I typed in Aidan Frost this morning in Yahoo to see if any other person had this name and you are not going to believe this....

This is the only Aidan Frost I found, here's his website

Can you believe it?! Someone with that name is so into airplanes like me... and maybe like Baby A will be.

There is also an Aiden Frost ("e" not "a"). He's got a pretty cool site too here.

Week 20 - A New Design, A Baby's First and Two Very Excited Parents

Well, well. It's week 20. At the end of this week, we will have reached the half way point of Baby Aidan's 40 week journey. Sadly from this point on we no longer have a fruit or vegetable to compare the baby to ;( Here's what's up with the "10-incher" this week.

Since we've got confirmation on the boy thing, I redesigned our site to be a little more Aidan-like. I think he would approve. Can you believe we're having a boy? I can't wait for teaching and watching sports, Tonka Trucks, and model trains and planes. And if it would have been a girl, I'd be writing about building her a doll house, teaching her how to draw things and scrapbook and even sports too! So don't think that I'm one-sided. I'm just so glad that he is healthy and happy. He doesn't have a clue how much joy and pride are waiting for him, especially from this parent.

So Baby A, got some first's yesterday (even though he's in utero). We went to Scott Air Force Base just on the other side of the Mississippi River and watched the airshow. Pretty awesome, they had a F-22 flyover, which was the first time I've seen that aircraft before. It was a nice jet.
The USAF Thunderbirds also performed and that darn #6 plane that flies over fast in a surprise pass got me again! Dang, I always watch for that! Scares the crap out of ya!

While that was exciting, for me and baby A, we weren't done yet. Next we headed down to the Arch to see the last of the free summer concerts there. Performing last night was the band Live. They weren't too bad; played most of their famous songs. Baby A's first rock concert, kinda. So all in all, a good day for us and the A-man.

The Aidan Book Club has been posted on the left column; which are selections that we try to read to him every night.

So here we are, 19 and a half weeks into this Adventure and the big day has come.

Aidan Matthew Frost has been named!!

Welcome Aid! We love you!


The ultrasound tech said that she was so confident that it was a boy that we could go home and "paint the room blue". I'd agree, it's definitely a boy!

Aidan is growing very well, all organs and such are developing exactly the way that our Doctor wanted to see. We recieved the Quad Screen Panel back, which gives the probablity that the baby would have Down's, Spina Bifida, etc, and the chances are 1 in 4479 (which makes the chances very, very slim). We saw his fingers moving around and that his bladder and stomach were filled, meaning that he's swallowing and since the bladder is full means that his kidney function is workin' good!

Here it is.....the BIG Announcement!!

OK, friends and family...what Emmy and I have been so waiting for: The BIG Announcement. We saw what we needed to see and the little one looks great! More on the update later. But for now, it gives me great pleasure to present the Baby Gender Video.

Week 19 - THE WEEK

So I've been putting so much faith that on Wednesday the baby's gender will be revealed. I really hope that the baby is down with cooperating with me.

Emmy's feeling really well, growing in all the good ways. She thought on Saturday night that she felt the baby move/kick/etc, which was really exciting for her. It just so happened that I was studying and we were listening to classical music. When the song came to a big crescendo ending, the baby kicked! Yeah baby! Maybe you'll be a conductor or a musician someday.

Speaking of music, we decided to give in to the "current" prenatal fad of playing classical music to the little one. So we splurged and purchased the Bebe sounds system with microphone and fetal speakers so that she can "rock out" in the amniotic sac. Plus, I've been reading "Goodnight Moon" to him or her every night before bedtime. We have friends who did this and now Hannah is very tuned to knowing that this book means it's time to go to bed, including getting fussy near the end (because she know's it's near the end), when the "old lady says "hush"". Pretty cool, huh? We're amassing books for the little one all the time and are up to about 10 so far. I'll post a new column later with all the books we have, just in case you run across a good deal (I'll pay ya back!).

And finally, we bought and put together the crib and changing table this weekend. Maybe a little early, but we're just so darn excited....what can you do!?
