The Alamo, Tower of the Americas and Mariachis!! Oh my!!

At the Alamo, home to the battle cry of the Texas Independence, "Remember the Alamo!"

Another great day today for the FFA in SA! We started out this morning by going to breakfast and then onto Texas' #1 tourist attraction, the Alamo. Amazing place of amazing bravery by the so many people that died during the siege in 1836. We were surprised to see how small it was and couldn't even fathom how awful it would have been to been holed up inside only to be massacred. Yikes.

As the story goes, and shown in the picture on the right, a "line in the sand" was drawn for those would would fight for the Alamo and those who would rather coward out and walk away. Only one person didn't step over the line (FYI, it was not me!) but rather some Frenchy guy. Wuss.

Next it was on to the Tower of the Americas, which is the second tallest observation tower in the US (Stratosphere in Vegas is taller). But at 700ft , it's a pretty tall building as shown below. It was built in the 1960's as part of the World's Fair in SA. It's big!

They have some beautiful fountains around the Tower, here's a few shots, including one of Mommy and Daddy while Aidan took a nap in his stroller.

Another shot of the Riverwalk and some weird art thing that I can't remember what it means, something about Mexican love something or another. Sorry, I wasn't listening during the tour!?

OK, onto dinner. We had to eat at at least on authentic Tex-Mex place so we chose Casa Rio, which was the original Riverwalk restaurant back in 1946. Aidan found a new love of foods, that being a cheese enchillada, here's a shot of him giving us his best "Show Mommy Who's a Little Piggy Face".

They also had a travelling Marachi band that went a played table to table. We had them come over and play us a song...they were awesome. As you can see from Aidan's expression...He was REALLY INTO IT! So funny, he loves watching music performers.

Tomorrow Daddy and Aidan depart leaving Mommy behind to goto her conference. We'll be sad to leave, but so happy to see her on Tuesday night. We'll be fine...just a couple of boys hangin' out for a day or so!
