Walt Disney World 2013, Day 4: Magic Kingdom Again!

Since the boys are still in the small guy rides, on Sunday we headed back to the Magic Kingdom.   Now I wasn't too keen on MK this day, only because our research had indicated that it was going to be a "red" day, meaning that this park would be very busy and it was actually listed as one to avoid.  But the way our schedule was set up we couldn't really change any of our plans, so we set out very early (before 730) to get the park when it opened at 8.

Now, when we got there we were pleasantly surprised to find that not very many folks were there.  We thought about it a bit and came up with the following hypotheses: 1. It's Sunday and everyone was going to church, 2. it was the first day for many of their spring break, and perhaps they got in late on Saturday night and weren't ready to hit the parks and 3. Sunday morning was the annual "Spring Forward" clock change.  Many may have forgotten to do this and hence showed up at 9 thinking it was 8!

In any case, the park was unbelievably empty in the morning.  So the countdown was on again and Ethan was quite excited to see Mickey and Friends arrive on the steam train!

The pre-opening show...

"There's Mickey!"

Countdown to the opening!

This time our first stop was to Dumbo, we thought that maybe it would be best to get in a few rides with him first and then meander through the park.

Mommy and Ethan wanted to stay on the Dumbo ride so Aidan and I headed over to The Barnstormer and you know what....Aidan loved it, loved it so much that we stayed on the ride (not even leaving our seats because it was so not busy) and rode it 4 times in a row!!!  Unreal!!

I even got video of it...and you can hear Aidan half way through say, "I like this!"  Awesome :)

So it was truly amazing on how many rides we rode before lunch.  We rode:

...its a small world...

...the Mad Tea Cups...

...the Tomorrowland Speedway & Winnie the Pooh, Peter Pan, and.....

BIG THUNDER MOUNTAIN RAILROAD!!!

Now, I'll tell you, we were probably not great parents here, but after Aidan cruised through 4 straight times on the Barnstormer (and 2 times on Friday), we knew that he could do the BTM coaster.  We had asked him and asked him to go and he kept refusing...so we got FastPasses and wheeled the strollers over to the entrance...picked them up and drug them on.  Both were a bit scared and some tears may have been shed, but both Emmy and I knew it was the right time to challenge them a bit.  So we got on the ride, got through the end and guess what....they loved it.  During the ride, yeah maybe a bit scared...

...but as you can see, we're holding on to them tightly...

They did it...they accomplished a REAL roller coaster...yeah boys!!

It was like night and day with the crowds after we finished up lunch at the Liberty Tree Tavern restaurant...we went in and it was pretty empty and we went out and it was a mess of people.  Totally crazy.  Knowing that many of our rides were done for the day, we walked up to the parade and saw a few characters....

Grabbed a FastPass for Buzz Lightyear's Space Shooting game....

Mommy and I were Galactic Hero's while the boys ended up scoring Star Cadets :)

We stopped for a great picture at Cindy's castle...

And then sleepy time came for both boys....they were pretty whipped after 4 days and luckily, both got a good nap.  Emmy and I found quiet shaded parts of the park to relax and for once we didn't have somewhere to be or a ride to ride, we just hung out :)

A few winks later and it was time to leave the MK and head to dinner at Chef Mickey's!  Before though, one last picture in front of the MK of the boys!

We took the Monorail quite frequently this trip to our various dinners, the boys loved riding it...I still think they are so cool...

Chef Mickey's was awesome again, Ethan was so into the characters and Aidan too. All of them came by multiple times, took pictures, gave us their autographs....fun time.

First by was Pluto...Pluto's funny because he has to put the autograph pad on his nose to sign...

Remember last year where we could barely get Ethan to look at the characters? Now his is right there with them!  What a difference a year makes...

And Donald...

And Minnie signing her autograph....

Posing with the big guy...

And with Mommy and company...right as the green Monorail goes through the hotel :)

Every once in a while, they have a celebration song and everyone dances and twirls their napkin above their head....Aidan and Goofy got into it big time this year!

Goofy crashed out he danced so hard!

The Boys with Goof....

Next up was the man of the hour, Mickey...

Great shot!!

Family with MM!!

Now this crazy Ethan has the confidence to squeeze Pluto's nose!

Family time with Minnie...

E having fun with Donald....Donald is his favorite...

And there they are again...what a magical year this year was for us and these characters...

That's all for Sunday...unbelievable and likely the best day we had during the trip...a memory making day!

Onto Day 5, Epcot!

Awesome pictures. Looks like so much fun. As I listened to the boys play over the last 3 days, their experience here is almost always in their "make believe" games. Thanks for sharing. Love to see you all so happy.

Hug and kisses!
